Professional events

Apart from numerous pro-am events, the club hosted the Irish professional championship in 1952, 1959 and 1965 with the worthy winners being Fred Daly (Balmoral), Norman Drew (Knock) and ‘Himself’ Christy O’Connor, all of whom played Ryder Cup golf, and Irish match play championship in 1970, which was won by the affable Paddy Skerrit.

In 1998 the club had the honour of being the first Irish club to host the girls’ Home International matches.
